As well as creating <em>Blake&#8217;s 7<\/em>, Nation also devised the small-screen post-apocalyptic classic <em>Survivors<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>After he relocated to Los Angeles in 1980, Nation tried unsuccessfully to convince a US TV network to remake <em>Survivors<\/em> for the American TV market. Nation could hardly have imagined what would have become of <em>Doctor Who<\/em> in the last two decades, but the story of <em>Survivors<\/em> has also continued to evolve in ways the series&#8217; creator could not possibly have anticipated, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The release of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivors-mad-dog.org.uk\/a-world-away\/Basics_DVD_One.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Survivors<\/em> on DVD<\/a> in different formats and packages, and for different regions, in the UK, America, Australia and Italy<\/li>\n<li>The arrival of the first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivors-mad-dog.org.uk\/a-world-away\/Basics_Guidebooks.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">commercially published book<\/a> to explore the genesis and production of the series.<\/li>\n<li>The broadcast of a <a href=\"https:\/\/survivorsbbctv.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">two-series, twelve-episode &#8216;re-imagining&#8217; of <em>Survivors<\/em><\/a> by the BBC between 2008 and 2010<\/li>\n<li>The re-publication in 2008 of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.survivors-mad-dog.org.uk\/a-world-away\/Basics_Novelisations.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">out-of-print 1976 <em>Survivors<\/em> novel<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The release of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigfinish.com\/releases\/v\/survivors-by-terry-nation-audiobook-1147\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first ever audio-book version<\/a> of his <em>Survivors<\/em> novel by Big Finish in 2014, voiced by <em>Survivors<\/em> actress Carolyn Seymour (Abby Grant)<\/li>\n<li>The release of a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigfinish.com\/ranges\/v\/survivors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new and original audio-adventures<\/a>, set in the time and place of the original <em>Survivors<\/em> TV series, and involving the three original core stars of the show: Carolyn Seymour, Lucy Fleming (Jenny Richards) and Ian McCulloch (Greg Preston).
