Bernard Kay was born on 23 February 1928 in Bolton, and was 48 years old at the time that Mad Dog was filmed in January 1977.

In a long and hugely varied acting career, Bernard Kay has appeared in classic genre TV shows as Dr Who, Space 1999, The Champions, The Professionals and Due South, in addition to appearing in numerous film and TV mini-series. Now in his seventies, Bernard Kay continues to act on both stage and screen.
