IAN McCULLOCH (GREG Preston) has joined the cast of new indie horror movie Chronicles of Depression.

Set within the confines of a 1950s’ psychiatric hospital Chronicles of Depression is described as a “harrowing descent into psychological and institutional horror”.

While many aspects of the film are yet to be publicly revealed, it’s known that McCulloch takes on the role of a doctor at the institution, whose patients are tormented by the terrifying spectre known only as “The Shadow Man”.

“With such an intense and controversial subject, I knew the film required a veteran presence to anchor our cast of young performers,” director Lawrie Brewster explained to the Bloody Disgusting site.

“I was therefore delighted that the British Horror Studio could reintroduce audiences to Ian McCulloch, famed for his starring roles in Zombie and Contamination, as well as his distinguished work on the stage, including with the Royal Shakespeare Company. At 84 years old, he brought remarkable energy to the set, and I am incredibly proud to mark his return to the horror genre with Chronicles of Depression.”

The film also features the talents of Megan Tremethick, Novarro Ramon, Dorian Todd and Michael Daviot.

A preview screening of an early cut of the film will feature in the programme of the Romford Film Festival in London – and will screen at the festival on 24 May.

Brewster and his production company then plan to launch a crowdfunding campaign to promote the film’s wider distribution.
